Planted Cucumber Seeds

This afternoon I planted four cucumber species we will be testing this year:
Sweet Success Hybrid is a truly seedless cucumber and should be planted away from any other cucumbers to prevent it from pollinating, in such case a few undeveloped seeds may be present. They were planted in the garden north of the house. The others were planted in the garden north of the shop.

Planted White Squash Seed

This afternoon I planted three hills of Early White Bush Scallop Squash. They are one of the best white summer squash available. The bush type plants produce tender fruits that are best when 4 to 6 inches in diameter. They should be ready for harvest in 50 days (June 13th).

Planted Morning Glory Seeds

This afternoon I planted three packets of Burpee Scarlett O'Hara Morning Glory Seeds. They will produce large 4-5 inch deep crimson flowers. They have vigorous growth from midsummer to frost and are idea for covering trellises and arbors. I planted them on the fence behind the garden where they will receive full afternoon sun.

Planted Gourd Seeds

This afternoon I planted a packet of Burpee Small Fancy Gourd Mix seeds. Six seeds were planted at each fence post. They will produce colorful fruits, some striped and bi colored in a wide range of shapes. The dried fruits make an attractive fall display. They should be ready for harvest in 90 days (July 23rd).
